This tropical paradise in southern Spain sees sunshine on an average of 321 days every year. Vestiges of the occupation by Phoenicians and Romans can still be seen along its 19 kilometres of beautiful coastline bathed by the Mediterranean.
A tropical micro-climate in the heart of the Mediterranean
Before basking in the sun on any of its 26 beautiful beaches, we propose a tour of the town itself. While it’s true that Almuñécar has some great beaches, that’s not all it has! The historic centre has an intricate labyrinth of narrow streets that run from Cerro de San Miguel to the coast. On the hill itself is a castle with the same name, a really lovely old Muslim fortress. Another historical treasure is the old Fish Salting Factory, now fully renovated and integrated into city life. The most beautiful viewpoint can be found at the Peñón de San Cristóbal. You shouldn’t leave Almuñécar without visiting the beautiful villages in the Alpujarra and trying their delicious tapas and tropical fruit.
