Life around the estuary

The Guggenheim Museum, designed by Frank Gehry, is the icon of the transformation of Bilbao in recent decades. Great design and architecture are around every corner in this magnificent city in northern Spain. Even in the metro stations! Much of life in Bilbao takes place around the estuary. Crossing the estuary on the Bizkaia Bridge, a treasure of industrial architecture declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is an experience you must not miss if you visit Bilbao on holiday. The Cathedral of Santiago, the Palacio de la Diputación, Bilbao City Hall, the Museum of Fine Art or the La Ribera Market, the largest covered market in Europe, are also a must.
