Open to the Mediterranean and famous worldwide for its modernist architecture, the magnificent Catalan capital is now a major driver of new trends in the worlds of culture, design, fashion and cuisine.
The epicentre of modernism
The unfinished Sagrada Familia is one of the most popular monuments in Europe, and the greatest example of Catalan modernist architecture. Taking a tour of the buildings designed by the prestigious Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí is an experience that you must not miss if you visit Barcelona. The buildings include the Pedrera, the Casa Batlló and the colourful Parc Güell, among others. Magnificent art can also be seen at the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, the Picasso Museum and the Miró Foundation. The contrast between the most iconic districts in the city, such as the Barrio Gótico, Es Born or Gràcia, is something you really have to see. Wandering along Las Ramblas, always full of people, and stopping for a snack in the colourful Boqueria Market is a simply unforgettable experience.
