Hotely v Yangon

The peculiar golden colour of the roofs of its temples add a very special and almost magical touch to the largest city in Myanmar. The magnificent contrast between old and new is one of the great attractions of this bustling Asian city.

Between relics and skyscrapers

Visiting the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda is one of the first things you have to do as soon as your arrive in Yangon. One of the oldest pagodas in the world, it has an huge number of Buddhist relics and is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year. The Sule Pagoda is another of the iconic symbols of the city. In the old English colonial quarter, the City Hall building and Post Office still retain their architectural beauty. Visiting the wonderfully chaotic Bogyoke Market, the oldest market in the city, and savouring the magnificent street food is another experience not to be missed in Yangon. If you still have the energy, you can hop on the circular train around the city or relax on Ngwe Saung Beach.
