Hotels in Puertollano

Many of the treasures in this old mining city in the interior of Spain can be found underground. The archaeological sites of Castillejo de El Villar and Cerros de San Sebastián are a must.

Pure energy

This is the gateway to the beautiful Alcudia Valley and the countryside around Calatrava. The most important street in the city is the Paseo de San Gregorio. It is home to the Agria spring, one of the most popular springs in Ciudad Real and an icon of Puertollano, whose waters are said to have medicinal properties. The 16th-century historic centre has a typical medieval layout and numerous Gothic-style churches. Among them, the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption stands out, having been declared a national cultural asset. Another must-do experience in Puertollano is a visit to the iron structures at the Castillete del Pozo Norte, which is a reminder of the huge mining tradition in this area. The Monument to the Miner in Cerro de Santa Ana is another thing you shouldn’t miss.
