“I stayed at Airport Suites Meliá Madrid for two nights after the air traffic control failure in the UK caused hundreds of flights to be cancelled, leaving so many passengers stranded in Madrid. The hotel took on hundreds of additional passengers during an incredibly chaotic and stressful situation, and I really want to praise the hotel and its staff for how they handled everything. Despite being so busy and under huge pressure, the staff remained helpful, welcoming and professional. They extended the dinner service to accommodate the large number of stranded passengers, and when people were stuck waiting in the check-in queue for hours, the hotel went a step further and handed out bags of food to those waiting. It was such a thoughtful gesture after an already exhausting and stressful day. They continued to look after guests right through to the next morning. I had to leave for my airport shuttle at 6:45am, before breakfast service had even started, and the hotel had prepared bags of food for guests who were leaving early. I really appreciated that! they clearly understood that many of us had long journeys ahead and made sure nobody left without something to eat. A special shout-out to Kike in the restaurant. He had such great energy and was friendly, upbeat and welcoming despite the circumstances. With so many people understandably stressed and frustrated, his positive attitude really helped lift the atmosphere. The room itself was average but comfortable and the hotel had everything I needed for my two-night stay, but what stood out most was the way the staff handled an extremely difficult and unexpected situation. Thank you to everyone at Airport Suites Meliá Madrid for looking after us when we were stuck away from home. You handled an incredibly difficult situation with kindness, generosity and professionalism, and it was genuinely appreciated. ❤️”
