As a leisure alternative, pottery has re-emerged in the city, attracting more and more public attention. This is not a new activity, since the capital was the only Spanish city which used to host a porcelain factory in the second half of the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century. From where the stew pots of Alcorcón, the huge jars of Colmenar de Oreja, and the casseroles and cooking pots of Navalcarnero came from.

Craftsmanship on the rise

Pottery is on the rise in Madrid. In recent years, this activity has begun to attract the attention of a public looking for leisure alternatives in the city. Even so, this activity is not new. Madrid was the only city in Spain to host a porcelain factory, from the second half of the 18th century to the first half of the 19th century. It was also the place where industrial earthenware saw its boom in the 19th century and where the Alcorcón stew pots, the large jars up to 4m high of Comenar de la Oreja, or the casseroles and pots of Navalcarnero became popular.
